air filter. This was a carbon filter, plus there were some purple
rocks that could be added to take out more toxic chemicals.
Terry’s MCS was very acute then, to the point that she could
barely leave the house. So, we took a length of metal dryer hose
and attached it (via duct tape) to the filter. When Terry would
stick her face in the other end of the dryer hose, she could
breathe the air coming right out of the filter. (And no, we
didn’t attach Terry to the other end via duct tape.) In this
way, Terry could go out and be with other people, although not for
very long.

also give off oxygen. The oxygen at first helped prevent reactions
from occurring. Then it lost some of its effectiveness. We still
carry it in the car as a backup. In smaller towns, Terry has to get
the oxygen tank filled up at welding shops.
